This week in chaplaincy...

...a 1st year historian gave his life to Jesus and became a Christian.

Please pray for him

I asked him what started his journey to Christianity. He replied softly with two simple words:

"Tunnel Soc."

Wow. Wow wow wow. This has made my week. So good to hear :) I'm overjoyed and whatever the typing equivalent of speechless is... so I'll shut up now.

I don't know what to say really. This is really good. I never thought anyone would become a Christian as a result of tunnel soc. I was afraid that people would think we were out to convert them. Obviuously I was wrong and I feel humbled.

I think it's good that a dude has found G-d, and if he found it through meeting Christians in Tunnel Soc, well then, that's valid.

However, I don't think people ought to be crowing that Tunnel Soc brought him to Jesus. People bring themselves to whatever deity they choose (unless we're in Inquisition Spain...) - Tunnel Soc have some nice, welcoming Christians. So do other societies, through which he may equally have met people who would have put him on this particular path.

Please don't put out the message that Tunnel Soc and 'finding' Jesus are intricately linked... I can't think of anything worse than any religion being linked to something purely secular, enjoyed by those who profess other faiths.

Thanks Alex...

I don't think Tunnel Soc and Jesus are intricately linked, certainly all the evidence points in the opposite direction.

All I'm saying actually is two things...

One look a bloke who didn't become a Christian by being vigarously preached at he was welcomed into something....now what's the message here????

Two I'm actually just amused. What bought you here I asked him. And the answer made me laugh. A lot.

That's it.

Fair play - I stand corrected :)
