What is this non story about Obama snubbing Brown? I just don't get all the hand wringing on the BBC website and elsewhere, about the potential collapse of the special relationship.
Not so long ago (ie when the last President and Prime Minister were in office) we were terribly worried, that the two were spending far too much time together. Then the fact that Bush and Blair would regularly hold meetings and press conferences, was a angst filled sign, that we were America's poodle.
Of course all this is more about substance than style. After all, why would the British public, find a left wing politician more acceptable, when they are heading in a definite rightward direction. We disliked Bush because he was a Southern Hick, nothing to do with policy.
Take this simple test:
1) Do you approve of the direction Obama is taking America?
A) Yes
B) No
2) Who do you want to be Prime Minister after the next election?
A) Gordon Brown
B) David Cameron
If you answered A and A or B and B, well done you are consistent and cogent.
If you answered B and A, you're probably a racist.
And if you answered A and B, you are almost certainly personally responsible, for everything that is currently wrong with this country.

There's a flaw in your logic in this entry.
America currently is far to the right on the UK. It would perfectly consistent to think the correct balance is between the two and vote for a politician that would be considered right-wing in the UK but want to vote for a politician considered left-wing in the US.
And don't forget those people who just really, really don't want Brown as PM...
